MQB Subframe Locking Collars (Front and Rear)
STOP YOUR SUBFRAME FROM PLAYING MUSICAL CHAIRS
MQB Subframe Locking Collar Kit (Front & Rear) Golf MK7 / MK7.5 GTI & R ยท Audi S3 ยท other MQB platform cars
The problem ๐ฏ
You finally got your alignment dialled in. Camber's perfect. Car tracks dead straight.
Then:
๐ณ๏ธ You hit a pothole
๐ You load the chassis hard through a corner
๐ You just... drive it like it's meant to be driven
And the subframe shifts. Just a little. Just enough.
Suddenly your "perfect" alignment isn't โ and you're back at the shop, paying for another set-up.
Why this actually happens
Here's the bit most people don't know ๐
VW/Audi design the subframe bolt holes oversized โ on purpose.
It's not a manufacturing defect. It's so dealers and mechanics can shuffle the whole subframe around to dial in alignment without needing separate adjustment bolts.
The trade-off? That same wiggle room is exactly what lets your subframe creep out of position every time it copes with a hard hit, a big lap, or just gets removed and refitted.
Great for the factory. Not great for you.
THIS IS THE FIX ๐
Lock it in, keep it there Collars fit around the subframe mounting bolts and eat up the factory clearance. Once they're in, your subframe stays exactly where you put it. Every pothole. Every corner. Every time.
Front AND rear, sorted together No point locking the front down while the rear's still doing its own thing.
Set it once. Forget it. Stop re-checking camber like it's a part-time job.
๐ฉ A word on bolts
Your MQB subframe bolts are torque-to-yield โ engineering speak for "designed to stretch once, then get binned."
Reuse them and you might end up with a subframe that's technically bolted in, but not actually clamped properly.
Grab a fresh set while you're in there. Cheap insurance against doing this job twice.
โ Fits
Direct fit for MQB platform cars:
Golf MK7 & MK7.5 (GTI + R)
Audi S3
Other MQB-based chassis
No cutting. No fabrication. No "make it work" moments.
The bottom line
Alignment is only worth what it's locked to.
Stop letting your subframe renegotiate the terms every time you hit a bump.
MQB Subframe Locking Collar Kit โ set it once, keep it once.
